Well, they found Spalding Gray's body in the East River. I was dreading the first warm weekend of the year, because according to the NYPD "that's when the bodies start showing up." And so I have to give up my fantasy of Spalding Gray turning up at a monastery or as a short order cook or anything other than a waterlogged suicide.

Years ago, I saw him walking down Nassau Street in Princeton, probably on his way to a rehearsal of Gray's Anatomy, if I've got the time frame right. I kept going rather than running over to him because he was famous and I was not, and I don't like to bother famous people. I wish I had now. I would like to have a memory of telling Spalding Gray to his face "I, uh, think you're great. And stuff."
